Tesoro Mio Breaks Through
Tesoro Mio took an encouraging step forward on Saturday for trainer Tim Fitzsimmons, breaking her maiden with a professional performance in the Bentley Group Maiden Plate (1005m) at Warracknabeal.

Ridden confidently by Liam Riordan, the three-year-old daughter of Bivouac used her early speed to push forward and be positive. Despite the field rolling along at a genuine tempo, she found plenty in the straight to hold off the fast-finishing Oliveanotherday, who had impressed in recent trials.

Trainer Tim Fitzsimmons was delighted with both the ride and the filly’s effort: “I thought she ran really well. She’ll continue to improve as she wasn’t fully wound up today. Great ride from Liam (Riordan) to hold on. He used her early speed, so they raced along at a good rate and held off the fast finishing Oliveanotherday, which looks a nice type from his recent trials.”

It was only her fourth career start, and Tim believes there’s more to come as she builds fitness and experience.
“She’s still learning what it’s all about. We’ll look for another 1000m race for her over the coming weeks.”

It always great to get another victory for owner Mr Yong which has been a loyal supporter of the stable.

“Thanks to her owner Mr Yong for his continued support. We love watching these silks win races and we think there’s a few more in store for her now she’s ticked off her maiden win.”

With her maiden now behind her, Tesoro Mio looks poised to take confidence from the run and continue her progression through the grades this preparation.
